Abstract

This study examines the integration of arts-based methods in teaching history and its impact on student learning outcomes. Traditional history education often emphasizes memorization of dates and events, which can limit deeper understanding. By incorporating drama, visual arts, and creative writing, students are encouraged to engage with historical narratives in more meaningful ways. The research demonstrates that such approaches improve historical empathy and analytical skills. Students were able to interpret multiple perspectives and question dominant historical accounts. The study also highlights increased student interest and participation. Teachers noted that arts-based activities made lessons more dynamic and interactive. However, challenges such as assessment standardization and curriculum constraints were identified. The paper suggests strategies for balancing creativity with academic rigor. It concludes that arts integration can significantly enhance history education.
